I am a computer science student and doing my research in green computing.
I had a basic question about processors that support DVFS.
According to one of the papers, there exists a threashold voltage below which the execution is not
energy efficient, since the static or leakage current increases.
My questions are:
1. If it is not energy-efficient to operate below a voltage level, does the processor allow to switch to that voltage level?
2. Are there fixed voltage and frequency pairs that are energy efficient?
Does the intel processors allow transition only into these valid levels or one can go to
a different (non-energy efficient) voltage and frequency combination?
