Getting started with the Intel® XDK and IoT

Thank you for investigating the Intel® XDK. If you're looking for a quick-start IDE that can help you get started exploring and prototyping for Internet of Things (IoT) hardware, you've landed in the right place.

Features of our latest release include:

  • Easy transition from "out-of-the-box" hardware → application development experience.
  • Secure cloud-based storage for your application project code; access your project code from anywhere.
  • Design and save multiple projects for one board.
  • Test out integrated sample code and templates for peripheral hardware components such as sensors, actuators, and more.

Our Getting Started Guide walks you through the specifics for getting an Intel-based IoT device connected and talking to the cloud.

If your aspirations are more along the lines of designing UI or interfaces for IoT apps that can be managed via mobile devices, you're still in the right place. Read up on the features of the Intel XDK and check out the Introduction to Developing Mobile Companion Apps to dive right in.
