Setting Up Your Command Line Environment

Before you can use the Intel Advisor advixe-cl and advixe-gui commands , you must first set up your command environment. Use either of the following:

  1. To open a command window with the environment set up to run any Intel Parallel Studio XE product, click: Start > All Programs > Intel Parallel Studio XE > Command Prompt and select the desired environment, such as IA-32 Visual Studio 2008 Mode.
  2. To modify the environment of an already open command window, execute the advixe-vars batch file. For example, if you installed Intel Advisor using the default directory, type: C:\Program files (x86)\Intel\Advisor XE 2013\advixe-vars.bat to set up the environment for Intel Advisor. To set up the environment for multiple products in the Intel software developer suite, such as Intel Parallel Studio XE, type: C:\Program files (x86)\Intel\Parallel Studio XE 2013\ipsxe-vars.cmd.

In both cases, the batch file execution displays the product name and the build number. You can now use the advixe-cl and advixe-gui commands .
