Question about Intel software uninstall and reinstall

Question about Intel software uninstall and reinstall

Dear all,

I have installed VS2010, VS2012 and latest Intel Fortran, C++ compiler and related libraries and tools and all these tools work well. The OS is Windows 7 64bit. However, yesterday another software in my computer doesn't work and I uninstalled and reinstalled it several times and then have to let the windows restore to an eariler time. After long time restore and that software works but unfortunately, I found that the VC, VF project can't work!

After I loaded a solution with VC/VF mixed projects and try to build the solution, the following error information displayed:

Could not load file or assembly 'Intel.Misc.Utilities, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublickeyToken=f4875dd4c8d7762f' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Could anyone give me some hints on how to solve this problem? I have tried to uninstall and reinstall all these tools except VS2012, but still failed (sometimes failed during uninstall). Is there any tool or method to recover to a clean machine (but I can't format the hardisk and reinstall the system)?

Thanks,

Zhanghong Tang

For more complete information about compiler optimizations, see our Optimization Notice.

I would uninstall Fortran and both VS2010 and VS2012. Delete the Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0 and 11.0 folders. Then reinstall VS2010 and VS2012 - apply any service packs needed. Then install Fortran.

When you say "failed during uninstall", what was the exact error message?

Hi Steve,

Thank you very much for your kindly reply. Now the problem is solved by reading this topic:

http://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/topic/393179

I solved the problem by restoring the system and then update the TBB to the latest version. Someone also reported the problem of TBB and I guess that latter version of TBB should not effect Intel's other software.

Now there is only a small problem lelft: everytime I start the VS2010, the dialog that 'Intel Software Manager has stopped working' will pop up. And now the Intel Software Manager can't work anymore. How can I update Intel Software Manager to let it work again?

Thanks,

Hi Steve,

Sorry to bother you again. Now there is another problem: the VS2010 will hang there when I debug the Fortran code (F5) and stop debugging when the program runs to the breakpoint. I also tested the VS2010 by a C++ project and found no problem. I noticed that this problem happened long before:

You said that new released IVFs have solved this problem. Because of this problem, I have uninstalled, reinstalled VS2010, VS2012 and Intel software several times as you instructed above, but the problem is still here.

Could you please give me some suggestion to solve this problem?

Thanks,

Zhanghong Tang

I don't have additional suggestions at this time. Does this happen with a new project you create (a "hello world" application) or is it just this one program?

Hi Steve,

Thank you very much for your kindly reply. It is strange that the new project created as you suggested didn't have such problem. Just now I created the project again, which included my source files and some C++ sub-projects (to build dlls used by main Fortran program), but the problem is still here.

What could lead to this problem?

Thanks,

Zhanghong Tang

There are several Service Packs ( SPs ) for Visual Studios 2010 and 2012 released by Microsoft and you should install these SPs as well.

Hi Sergey,

Thank you very much for your kindly reply. I have already installed VS2010 SP1 from Windows update, but still didn't solve my problem.

Thanks,

Zhanghong Tang

Would you please attach a ZIP file of the project that has the problem, and provide instructions for how to reproduce it? It could be something in your project that is triggering the error.

In May 2013 several users of TBB library reported a similar problem with Visual Studio integration and please take a look at a thread:

Hi Sergey,

Thank you very much for your kindly reply. I also noticed similar posts and solved the integration problem. Now my problem is that the VS2010 hangs when stop debugging after the program runs to a breakpoint.

Thanks,

Zhanghong Tang

Hi Steve,

Thank you very much for your kindly reply. I will try to reproduce a similar case and attach it here latter. On the other hand, currently I have tried to re-create my solution by VS2012 and it works well.

Thanks,
