Analyzing Child Processes

You may configure the Intel® VTune™ Amplifier to collect data on the processes spawned by the target process. This option is recommended for applications launched by a script.

To enable this option:

  1. Click the Project Properties button on the VTune Amplifier toolbar. The Project Properties: Target tab opens with the Application to Launch pane active.
  2. From the Advanced section, select the Analyze child processes option. If you disable this option, the VTune Amplifier does not collect data on child processes.
  3. To limit the analysis to certain child processes, click the Modify button in the Per-process configuration field. For example, if your target application calls shell or make processes, you can choose to exclude them from analysis and focus only on the processes you develop. The Per-process Configuration dialog box opens.
  4. From the Per-process Configuration dialog box, specify processes to analyze. From the drop-down menu, choose the depth of the analysis you need for this process.
