Intel® Parallel Studio XE - Sample Bundles - Known Issues

Software Products:

Operating System:

Programming Language:

Short description:

The information below discusses known issues with samples in the Intel® Parallel Studio XE Sample Bundle packages available on this site. Solutions are noted where available. All known issues will be resolved in future Sample Bundle packages.

Samples with current known issues:

  • Intel® Threading Building Blocks (Intel® TBB) - Samples for OS X*
  • Intel® Fortran Compiler QuickWin - Poker sample
  • Intel® Data Analytics Acceleration Library (Intel® DAAL) - Neural Networks sample

Refer to the details below for information.

Intel® Threading Building Blocks (Intel® TBB) - Samples for OS X* (DPD200587341)

The Intel® TBB samples for OS X* use specific Xcode* IDE project path settings to link to the required Intel® TBB library. The path settings require specific placement of these samples within the Intel® Parallel Studio XE 2017 for OS X* installation directory. For commercial version, the default installation directory is: /opt/intel/compilers_and_libraries_<version>/

To build the Intel® TBB samples using the Xcode* IDE project for OS X* systems, first unpack the sample bundle, and then place the Intel® TBB samples within an ‘example‘  sub-directory where the Intel® TBB library is installed. For the commercial version, place the Intel® TBB sample in: /opt/intel/compilers_and_libraries_<version>/mac/tbb/example

Intel® Fortran Compiler QuickWin - Poker sample (DPD200414102)

The Poker sample included in the Intel® Fortran Compiler - QuickWin samples collection may experience a hang at execution or a program exception. The abnormal behavior can occur when the sample is built with an optimization level of /O1 or higher.

To work around the issue, build and run only the Debug configuration, or build/run the Release configuration or via the command-line using the compiler options: /Od /debug:full

Intel® Data Analytics Acceleration Library (Intel® DAAL) - Neural Networks sample (DPD200587689)

Input Files Require Renaming

The Intel® DAAL Neural Networks Sample dataset input files require renaming prior to running the sample. The sample’s download dataset files are named with a “-“ (hyphen) on the download repository in a position where the sample itself expects a “.” (period).

To work around the issue, download and place the uncompressed dataset files into the folder <sample_dir>\cpp\neural_networks\data (Windows*) or <sample dir>/cpp/neural_networks/data (Linux* and OS X*), and then rename the files as per their declaration within daal_lenet.cpp before running the sample.

Dataset filename declarations within daal_lenet.cpp:
const string datasetFileNames[] =
