Starting the Debugger on Windows* Host

Click System Debug in the start menu

Alternatively, navigate to the folder <install-dir>\<debugger-dir>\system_debug and execute the script xdb.bat.

Starting the Debugger on Linux* Host

Navigate to the folder <install-dir>/<debugger-dir>/system_debug and execute the script xdb.sh .

Running Commands at Debugger Startup

To execute commands automatically at debugger startup, you can:

  • Enter the commands into the file <install-dir>scripts/startup.xdb.
  • Enter the commands into a customized script file and call the debugger from the console as follows:

    On Linux*: xdb.sh -b script_file

    On Windows*: xdb.bat -b script_file

Note

The script startup.xdb is always executed first.

Connecting to the Target

  1. Click the Connect button in the upper left corner of the debugger GUI.

    Alternatively, select File > Connect....

    The Connect to Target dialog is opened, such as:

  2. Select your probe and target in the drop-down menus Hardware Probe and Target Platform.

    For some probes, you need to specify advanced parameters for the connection. See the documentation of your probe for more information.

  3. Click Connect.

    The target is connected to the debugger.

Disconnecting from the Target

Click the Disconnect button in the upper left corner of the debugger GUI.

Alternatively, select File > Disconnect.
