Get Started with Intel® RealSense™ Camera SR300

Download and install the Depth Camera Manager (DCM) and Intel® RealSense™ SDK for Windows*.

Note: The Intel® RealSense™ SDK web runtime is discontinued. Details and uninstall instructions

Step 1: Unpack the Box

Included in the developer kit is the following:

  • Intel® RealSense™ Camera SR300
  • USB 3.0 cable
  • Quick Start Guide

Step 2: Verify the Operating System

Make sure you have the latest version of Windows* 10 (64 bit)

If you’re developing for Linux or OS X*, you will use librealsense, which provides cross-platform camera access and is available on GitHub*.


Step 3: Install the Depth Camera Manager (DCM)

This driver exposes the interface to streaming video from the depth camera for both color and depth. The depth cameras should come preloaded with latest DCM. If the DCM is out of date, Windows* should be able to recognize it and update itself automatically.

Step 4: Install the Intel® RealSense™ SDK for Windows* Essentials

The SDK essentials provide basic streaming capability, interfaces, and tools, such as clip editing and sample browsing.


Step 5: Install Optional SDK Capabilities

The Intel® RealSense™ SDK for Windows* is divided into individual downloads so you install only the features you need.

Cursor Mode

For specific UI applications that require delicate hand accuracy and stability, with specific gestures that can be used for multiple UI purposes.

3D Scan

Reconstructs the shape and appearance of stationary objects from a sequence of images taken from various angles. Using segmentation and tracking techniques, the image sequence is converted into a 3D triangle mesh (for example, PLY) for simulation, editing and printing, or analysis.

User Background Segmentation

Generates a segmented image per frame, which can be used to remove or replace portions of the image behind the user's head and shoulders.

Face Tracking & Recognition

Identifies the presence of faces in the camera’s range or facial features on an individual face. Supports 78 landmark points for increased accuracy and true 3D face detection, as well as roll, pitch, and yaw of the face.

Full Hand Tracking and Gesture Recognition

For games and applications that require multiple hand gestures without the need for accurate hand tracking.
