Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler for Windows*

Intel Visual Fortran compiler and Visual Studio

Hello,

Can anyone tell me if the new Intel Visual Fortran 8.0 compiler will work with
VisualC++ 6.0. More specifically would it provide full debugging capability,
i.e, will I be able to view the value of Fortran arrays during debugging.

Icould get the Intel Visual Fortran 8.0 (IVF) to work with Visual C++ .NET but was not able to view fortran multi-dimensional array valuesduring debugging.
So I was wondering if IVF could be made to work with VC++ 6.0 instead.

How to read the record length of unformatted sequential file

Hello all,

A post-processing code I am updating was written for Open Watcom 1.1 and makes use of the fnextrecl function to process an unformatted, sequential file. The function (I'm guessing) reads the first 4 bytes of the file to determine the record length and then some decision work is performed based on that length.

How to install Fortran program using dll?

I have Fortran program, which was build by CVF Standard Edition 6.5.0. This program is using a dynamic library, which is also written in CVF 6.5.0. It works O.K. on operating systems Windows 98 and Windows 2000 where is CVF installed. Program should serve as a teaching mechanism. When I installed both program and his dll (and Fortran Redistributables self-installing kit - VFRUN66BI.exe too) on machine at the university with Windows XP and without CVF, it gives me error message like this:
Entry point of procedure TRACEBACKQQ was not find in dynamically

Request: Compare Intel Fortran and Visual Fortran

Can anyone tell me if Intel Fortranuses the Win32 API functions for window construction, drawing, etc., or if a .NET type of class library wraps this functionality? The Compaq Visual Fortran makes heavy use of Win32, and I amhoping thatIntel has wrapped this mess up for use in the .NET environment.

Can anyone please comment about this? The more details you can provide, the better.

Thanks!

a question for the language lawyers about the save attribute.

I'm compiling my code using the latest version of the IVF 8.0 for Windows. I'm getting the following Warning in one of the files that constitutes one module: (This is a screen capture so please excuse the line wrap.)

designsourceNDBboardM.f90(218) : Warning: The SAVE attribute may only be declared for objects in
a subprogram [SAVE]
integer (UW_INTEGER), save :: WT2MAP(MAXWIN)

This line of code appears prior to the contains statement in the file. UW_INTEGER is a program-specific number that corresponds to a 4-byte integer kind.

Error opening SCRATCH file on Windows XP

I am opening a temporary file on a Windows EX machine using the following statement.
open (33,status='scratch',access='direct',form='binary',recl=6,err=4700)

I get an error 123 - The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

It works on other operating systems such as Windows 95 or Windows NT.

Alsoopenening temporary files appears works on Windows XP with a different program.

Is there some setting that needs changed?

Issues in Porting CVF6.6 to IVF8.0

Hi,
I am currently using CVF6.6, I have come to know that CVF development is going to be stopped in near future. Should I have to move all my source code to IVF8.0, In moving this source code, will there be any issues and risks related.
Could you please explain me the issues and risks and then clarify whether there will be problem or not.

Thanks.
