Getting Started with Havok

So you've downloaded your free version of Havok Physics and Animation and realized you don't know how to get started with it...

Step 1: Getting Havok demos running

Firstly, open up the Quickstart Guide in the Docs folder. Now section "1.2 Evaluation Checklist" lists a few thing you might want to do if you're evaluating using Havok for a larger game or considering buying a full license but if you just want to get something working with Havok you can safely skip this section for now.

How to report a Havok crash (Please read before posting)

How to report a crash

I'm not trying to single out anybody here; I'm just trying to save everybody some frustration. Let's consider the following two hypothetical forum posts:

1) "After I call hkpWorld::initMtStep, I get a message that says "hkpWorld.cpp(123): [0x12345678] Warning : I'm about to crash". Right after that I get a assert with the message "hkpWorld.cpp(234): [0x00001337] Assert : foo != HK_NULL" and this callstack:

Havok/Scaleform use Array in AS3

Hi everybody,

I am a beginner in Havok and Scaleform.

I want to create a mini map with Scaleform.
For this I create a function in Actionscript3 with a parameter , the parameters are Units coordinate (x, y).
But something is wrong.

Get the code

VScaleformValue values[2];

values[0] = VScaleformValue(entity->GetPosition().x);
values[1] = VScaleformValue(entity->GetPosition().y);
m_spMovie->Invoke("_root.AddEnemy", values);

cloth penerating collidables

I am trying the cloth simulation and find that sometimes the cloth will penetrate through the collidables. The situation is as follows: two collidables are created at the thigh and calf correspondingly and the cloth near the joint of thigh and calf can occasionally penetrate through the two collidables. Is it probably caused by the so called ‘pinching’ problem? I have also tried to enable pinch-detection according to the manual but it doesn't help much. Any primary suggestion about how to fix that problem or is there something I am missing? I am using the version of 2013.3.
