We talk a lot about how AI can influence technology and advancement right here on Earth. But what about the things beyond the Earth? I'm David Shaw and in this episode of AI News find out how Intel is addressing questions about the biggest mystery of all, by using AI to further space exploration.

Intel recently hosted the EventHorizon 2018 AI Plus Space Challenge Review for the NASA Frontier Development Lab. It was an intensive eight week research program and workshop that applied AI to challenges faced in space exploration. Nine teams from the AI machine learning community work to research their chosen topics.

The program included 36 researchers, representing 16 countries and 28 universities covering five research domains. The research participants implemented AI to do all kinds of things, such as predicting solar activity, mapping lunar poles, building 3D models of potentially hazardous asteroids. The opportunities are endless. To see more of the team's results, follow the link below. Who knows, maybe you'll get some inspiration for your own ideas about how you can apply AI to space.
