Intel® XDK Install Instructions

Installation instructions for Intel® XDK on x86_64 for the following platforms – Microsoft Windows*, Apple OS* and any Linux*-based OS like Ubuntu* (16.04 +) or Debian*.

Microsoft Windows*:

  1. Open the EXE File
  2. First Time User?
    You will see a launch screen followed by a series of install screens. Click next until install is complete.
  3. Run Intel XDK
    After install is complete, locate and launch Intel XDK from your start menu.

Apple OS X*:

  1. Open the DMG File
    After download, locate and open the Intel XDK DMG file and run the XDK.PKG install file.
  2. First Time User?
    You will see a launch screen followed by a series of install screens. Click next until install is complete.
  3. Run Intel XDK
    After install is complete, locate and launch Intel XDK from your applications folder.

Linux* x86_64 (Ubuntu):

  1. Check that you computer architecture is compatible with the XDK.  We currently support only x86_64 architecture.  You can check this with: 
    $ uname -m 
  2. Find and click the .tgz "Download for Linux*" link on https://software.intel.com/en-us/intel-xdk. 
  3. CD to the directory where your .tgz was downloaded and decompress with tar. For example, if you downloaded to a directory called "Downloads", you would do the following: 
        $ cd ~/Downloads
        $ tar -xzvf xdk_web_linux64_master_3900.tgz
  4. CD to the directory that was created and run the install.sh script. 
        $ cd xdk_web_linux64_master_3900/
        $ ./install.sh
  5. The installer will launch, and let you select where to install and it will instruct you through the installation.
  6. Launch the XDK with the xdk.sh script where ever you installed the program.
  7. You might need to adjust the "Network Proxy" settings to be "Automatic" if you can't seem to log into the XDK after launching it.
