When Guy McNally wanted to promote the highly specialized video, image, and audio signal processing libraries his company Uncut Video offers, he decided to go mobile with an app. He set to work creating the app Beautify, which helps users create the most flattering photo possible for social sharing.
“Most photo apps allow for some modifications, but Beautify offers something very different: specific analysis of faces,” said Guy McNally, founder and principal at Uncut Video. The app is based on the latest research in facial attractiveness and it has an advanced processing engine that realigns features and removes blemishes and wrinkles.
Beautify users can take advantage of touch on the Ultrabook™ with the filmstrip feature that can be swiped for easy photo browsing. Beautify also utilizes the multi-core on the Ultrabook. “If you blink, you’ll miss the image processing on the Ultrabook,” said McNally.
For McNally, the future means developing on the Ultrabook. When Intel released its beta program, McNally jumped at the chance. “When we had access to the Ultrabook development tools, the software emerged like a butterfly.”
“Being an ISV can be very intense, focused, and client-driven. The communities Intel offers give me a chance to talk with other developers and provide a bit of companionship,” said McNally. McNally also taps the Intel experts that are available in the Intel Developer Zone to continue his evolution as a developer.
“It’s all about your vision of the future. The Ultrabook is so promising. I’ve joined up with Intel because I want to have my foot in the door when it opens up wide thanks to the innovation of the Ultrabook.”
At IDF2012, McNally had the opportunity to connect with his colleagues and peers. “IDF helps me stay ahead of new technology. I learn about tools and products that are coming so I can develop for this future technology,” he said.
