System Requirements

The following system requirements are necessary in order to use Intel® Cluster Checker.

Hardware

  • Intel® Xeon® processor
  • 1 GB of RAM recommended
  • 400 MB of of free hard disk space required for installation

Software

  • One of the following operating systems:
    • CentOS 6 and 7
    • Red Hat* Enterprise Linux* 6 and 7
    • SUSE* Linux* Enterprise Server 12
    • Ubuntu* 16.04, and 17.10

Other Requirements (For All Nodes)

  • Intel® Cluster Checker must be present on the same path on all nodes.
  • bash must be available.
  • A readable, writable shared directory must be available from the same path on all nodes.*
  • On a multi-node machine, either passwordless ssh between all nodes or Intel® MPI Library is required. To use Intel® MPI Library instead of passwordless ssh, select the Intel® MPI Library collect extension.

        *Note: Intel® Cluster Checker uses $HOME as the shared directory by default, but you can change this option by setting the environment variable CLCK_SHARED_TEMP_DIR to the shared directory.

Installing Intel® Cluster Checker

Intel® Cluster Checker can be installed

  • with Intel® Parallel Studio XE
  • standalone
    • a standalone version of Intel® Cluster Checker can be downloaded here
    • it is also distributed via the Intel® YUM repository.

If installing from the link, simply run the provided install script to complete installation. The required RPMs are located in the rpm directory if you would like to use them instead of the install script.The Intel® YUM repository ‘clck’ contains everything to completely install Intel® Cluster Checker (totally equivalent to installation with Intel® Parallel Studio XE, or standalone script installation). Optional extensions to install additional capabilities can be installed from the Intel® YUM repository ‘clck-ext’.

Installing Intel® Cluster Checker Using YUM Repository

In order to install Intel® Cluster Checker using the Intel® YUM repository, follow the instructions below. [Note: These steps require privileged access]:

  1. Add the Intel® Cluster Checker YUM repository: 
    sudo yum-config-manager --add-repo https://yum.repos.intel.com/clck/2019/setup/intel-clck-2019.repo
    
  2. Import the gpg public key for the repository: 
    sudo rpm --import https://yum.repos.intel.com/intel-gpg-keys/GPG-PUB-KEY-INTEL-SW-PRODUCTS-2019.PUB
    
  3. Install the desired version of Intel® Cluster Checker using the YUM package manager. The following variables are used in the installation command: <COMPONENT>,<VERSION>,<UPDATE>,<BUILD_NUM>: 
    sudo yum install <COMPONENT>-<VERSION>.<UPDATE>-<BUILD_NUM>
    
  • Example: 
    sudo yum install intel-clck-2019.3.5-025

Installing Intel® Cluster Checker Extensions Using YUM Repository

In order to install Intel® Cluster Checker Extensions using the Intel® YUM repository, follow the instructions below. [Note: These steps require privileged access]:

  1. Add the Intel® Cluster Checker Extensions YUM repository: 
    sudo yum-config-manager --add-repo https://yum.repos.intel.com/clck-ext/2019/setup/intel-clck-ext-2019.repo
    
  2. Import the gpg public key for the repository (skip if done for the Installing Intel® Custer Checker Using YUM Repository step 2 above): 
    sudo rpm --import https://yum.repos.intel.com/intel-gpg-keys/GPG-PUB-KEY-INTEL-SW-PRODUCTS-2019.PUB
    
  3. Install the desired extension  using the YUM package manager. 
    sudo yum install <EXTENSION-NAME>
    
  • Example: 
    sudo yum install intel-clck-extensions-select-solutions-openshift

Intel® Cluster Checker Extension for Intel® Select Solutions for Red Hat* Openshift

Description: Provides capabilities for Intel® Cluster Checker to verify compliance with Intel® Select Solutions for Red Hat* Openshift requirements.

Intel® Cluster Checker Extension for Intel® Select Solutions for Simulation and Modeling

Description: Provides capabilities for Intel® Cluster Checker to verify compliance with Base and Plus configurations of Intel® Select Solutions for Simulation and Modeling requirements. This extension also verifies compliance with Intel® Scalable System Framework 2016.0 requirements.
