How Does Intel Cluster Ready Work?

  1. Platform providers and system integrators use the Intel Cluster Ready architecture and specification to develop interoperable clusters that are easy to deploy and manage. They do the work of ensuring components work together, so you can buy an Intel Cluster Ready system with confidence that it will work as it should, right from the start. Intel Cluster Ready systems must pass a certification process to verify they are interoperable with registered Intel Cluster Ready software.
  2. Software developers test their applications running representative workloads on certified Intel Cluster Ready systems to ensure that they run as expected. Once proper execution is verified, the application is registered as capable of running on any system compliant with the Intel Cluster Ready specification. You can choose the right cluster to run the registered Intel Cluster Ready software you depend on, and experience great application performance, right from the start.

Intel® Cluster Checker is a robust cluster diagnostics tool that helps make high-performance computing (HPC) clusters practical for sites that don't have previous cluster experience or in-depth expertise.

Provided at no charge to Intel® Cluster Ready customers and  partners, Intel Cluster Checker delivers value throughout the cluster lifecycle.

 


 

Ready on Day 1
Put your cluster to work right out of the box. Before your certified Intel Cluster Ready system arrives, your platform provider has used Intel Cluster Checker to verify that the system fully complies with the Intel Cluster Ready specification. Application software developers have defined representative workloads and used Intel Cluster Checker to confirm that their applications ran successfully on an Intel Cluster Ready system.

Ongoing Productivity

Intel Cluster Ready recipes are grouped here by Intel® processor, with newer recipes first. Please note:

  • Recipes provide repeatable instructions, but do not include software itself.
  • Additional tools and requirements for achieving Intel Cluster Ready certification, including Intel® Cluster Checker, are available to partners of the Intel Cluster Ready program.
  • Each new system you create is subject to individual verification and certification to confirm that it follows the Intel Cluster Ready specification.

†Indicates the actual number of nodes in the recipe used to certify the reference implementation as Intel® Cluster Ready. The same recipe may be used to scale up to 2N nodes, where N is the number of nodes recorded for the original certified cluster. For example, a certified 32-node recipe means that a 16-node cluster is considered certified, as would any number of nodes from 4 to 64 based on the same recipe. Use it to validate each new Intel® Xeon® processor-based cluster configuration and verify each copy of your cluster reference design (or recipe). Intel Cluster Checker examines the system at both the node and cluster level, so you know all components work together and can deliver optimal performance. It assesses firmware, kernel, storage, and network settings, and conducts high-level tests of node and network performance using the Intel® MPI Benchmarks, STREAM, the HPC Challenge benchmark (HPCC), and others.
