PTU can't determine my processor

Imagen de mathieuhajder

Hi!

I have a problem when I want to execute PTU on my Ubuntu 9.10 64bits. When I launch the program with ./vtsarun -el, it tels me:

Failed to determine current processor! Unable to continue.

However, my proc seems to be in the supported list. I have a Intel Core 2 Duo E6300:

./vtsarun -cl

This is an interesting problem. First of all please make sure you followed sampling driver installation instructions from INSTALL.txt.This is one of typicalproblems if youalso have VTune analyzer. Please let us know if the problem persists.

I would also try vtsarun -el -c I50.

I have only install and load the vtune driver to use PTU.

I also have an error wtih this command:

./vtsarun -el -c I50
Failed to extract the list of supported processors!

Your answer is confusing. Please confirm that you built and loaded exactly the driver distributed with the version of Intel PTU you are using. If this is the case then the answer is simple. You are usingan operating system that is out of supported OSs list from RELEASENOTES.htm.

Providing the following logs:

vtsarun -cl -v > cl.log 2>&1

vtsarun -el -v > el.log 2>&1

vtsarun -el -c I50 -v > el_50.log 2>&1

Can be helpful to make sure we do not have the same issue in future versions and probably can help to fix it with the version you are using.

yes i've installed the driver that was in ./vdk/src in the PTU archive. But I don't see Ubuntu in the supported OS in the RELEASENOTES.htm file.

Last guess and last hope to try with this version.
From the logs I can see that PTU is installed in some location thatseems to have non-English characters in its path.Would you please try to rename path so it looks like /home/username/ptu32_001_lin_intel64 (no non-English characters) and check whether it helped to vtsarun -el ?
Thanks!

Great that worked! Now /vtsarun -el show me a list of available events

Thanks :)

Cool. This is a prototype so only the major things work:)
i18n was not a priority.
