Feedbacks from the Perceptual Computing Hacknight in Paris

We imagined it in Minority Report, we lived in the Intel Hacknight ... 35 developers competing for 24 hours to develop the best application using the camera Interactive Gesture and Intel SDK. Installed in old craft factory provided by the ISART Digital, the group spent long hours to work on the the SDK with support from Xavier Hallade. Xavier, who two weeks earlier had hosted the workshop Perceptual Computing with the same group of developers.

Here is the list of the 11 projects that have emerged with their video demos filmed from scratch over the weekend :

- Spark Attack, named Best App of the competition is a 3D shooter inspired by Child of Eden, developed with Unity 3D & Popcorn FX;

- Perceptive Katz named Most Innovative App of the competition, a laser controller to distract your cat;

- X Command designated UX Best App of the competition, is a controller desktop applications;

- Perceptual Sandbox, a game in which the player can interact with the scene using augmented reality;

- Dactylomimus, an application for learning the alphabet;

- Cartop, a Bing Map Browser using voice recognition and motion detection;

- Spaceship, a multiplayer shooter using gestures and speech recognition player (compatible with Occulus Rift).

- OHM, a music creation application using the movements of the composer;

- Perceptual Linux, a hack version of the SDK to make it fully compatible with Linux;
- Dodger, managed by the movements of the player runner;
- Perceptual Party, an app 'brings together a number of essential games specially adapted to the pleasures of perceptual computing.

Seeing the encouraging feedbacks on the SDK and the quality of the content generated on the Perceptual Computing Challenge, it seems that huge opportunity are offered to developers, 3D artists and other gamers to create their apps, hacks and games.
