It’s time to migrate to the Intel AMT SCS 7.0

As you probably have noticed, there are great posts about the Intel AMT SCS 7.0 (check this or this for example). This post is not about all new features, it’s just a look to the previous 5.X version to see the benefits of migrating.  The 7.0 version has been available for some time, but there are always environments where AMT systems (and AMT infrastructure) aren’t changed frequently. This is not just an AMT/SCS related issue, maybe some of you have seen Windows XP systems working around.

  • You've read about it - now see and hear about it - AMT SDK 7.0

A few weeks back Ajith Illendula wrote a quick little blog about the new SDK 7.0. While Ajith is always a good read, sometimes all those words just seem to blur together. So, for those of you who are a little more visual, we've published a video highlighting all the latest developments in the latest release. Joey Edelstein, Senior Technical Information Engineer, takes to the screen with his depiction of what's new with SDK 7.0. Take a look:

This document specifies the software functionality of the Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel®
    AMT) Redirection Library.
The software supports Serial Over LAN (SOL – text/keyboard redirection) and IDE Redirection (IDER –
floppy/CD redirection) over TCP. This functionality is made available through a C interface for integration
into third-party management consoles. In addition, accompanying sample code demonstrates this
    capability.

  • Intel® Active Management Technology Overview

Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) is a capability embedded in Intel-based
platforms that enhances the ability of IT organizations to manage enterprise computing facilities.
Intel AMT operates independently of the platform processor and operating system. Remote
platform management applications can access Intel AMT securely, even when the platform is
turned off, as long as the platform is connected to line power and to a network. Independent
software vendors (ISVs) can build applications that take advantage of the features of Intel AMT
