I'm Stephanie Essin, and you're watching the Intel Developer Zone update. This time, we jump ahead to the year 2019 to take a look at the newly released Intel System Studio. We see Intel and VR working in an unlikely realm-- architecture-- like buildings and houses, not like Intel architecture. And we see how Intel is helping turn video data into smart city decision-making.
The new Intel System Studio 2019 is out and ready to download. Let's jump right in and take a look at some of the new features. You'll have rapid insights into platform-level performance, code vectorization, and threading with the new Intel Advisor tool.
OpenCL tools can assist offload compute to Intel processors. You can improve debug with Intel Processor Trace, and you can even create a cloud project. It's no surprise that a lot goes into designing an architecturally-sound building. Designers have to get it right, both for style and function. It can be hard to effectively show your vision on just a blueprint or in a computer program, mapping how the structures would look and feel. And that's where VR can help.
Intel partnered with InContext Solutions and developed something called Project Mall to see how VR could be helpful in this space. It's a proof of concept to demonstrate the commercial potential of VR in the architectural realm. As more and more retail spaces seek out ways to engage customers through virtual and augmented experiences, opportunities expand for innovative VR developers.
Imagine being able to control every detail, down to the lighting conditions that change with the time of day. On a more practical level, having a virtual walk-through of your vision can cement logistics, from restroom location to emergency management. When all parties can visualize the setup, complete with a human element in a virtual setting, there's no telling what you can bring to life.
