The Intel® Perceptual Computing SDK 2013 R8 is now available!

The Intel® Perceptual Computing SDK 2013 R8 is now available! We've added a few interesting new features and are excited to see the exciting applications our developers will use them for. So what's new?

  • We've added a preview module for our pulse estimator, used to expose users' heart rates
  • We've added a preview module used to detect users' emotions. Use this feature to enable applications to react to a variety of natural human emotions.
  • We've updated our support for Nuance Dragon Assistant such that applications built with our latest perceptual computing SDK release will maintain compatibility with systems running Nuance Dragon Assistant 3.
    • For target systems running Microsoft Windows* 8, developers need only install Nuance Dragon Assistant 3
    • There is no support for Nuance Dragon Assistant 3 on target machines running Microsoft Windows 7
    • Nuance Dragon Assistant 3 currently only supports US English
  • See the release notes for additional details.

Thanks a lot!! need to check it.Is there any demo for the pulse estimator this time around with R 8?

Abhishek Nandy

Yes, you can pulse estimator sample @C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\PCSDK\sample\pulse_estimator

Wow, nearly thought you guys had stopped updating. The new features sound very interesting, thanks!

What kinds CPU and OS are you using?

Hi, I've hit what seems to be the same issue as knh s. The camera was working fully (as far as I could tell), but when I updated to R8 (sorry, not sure what version I updated from) the samples that use the depth map stopped working. Most obvious case is in capture_viewer, where selecting [1] Depth Stream/Depth 320x240 30-30fps (or other fps)/Start All causes a crash at AcquireAccess() (see attached screens).

Interestingly, selecting [1] Depth Stream/Vertices 320x240 30-30fps renders fine. Color Streams also render fine.

My system: 64bit Win7, Intel Xeon CPU (E5640 - 2 processor), ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics card. Camera Model  no: VF0780.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the SDK and drivers. Installation seemed to go smoothly. I don't have an older copy of the SDK to fall back on.

Any suggestions? Any other info I can provide?

Update: I've installed the same camera and same R8 offline installer on my laptop, and everything works fine on the laptop. Still crashing on depth map on the desktop. Laptop is Win8.1 64bit.

Are there any known issues with Win7? The major differences between the systems are:

  • Win7-64bit versus Win8.1-64bit
  • Radeon HD 5870 versus NVidia Quadro 4000M
  • 2 processor 4-cores each versus 1 processor 4-cores.

Any suggestions?

Mark, your CPU(Xeon CPU (E5640 - 2 processor) did not meet PerC SDK 2013 requirement. You need find the 2nd/3rd/4th gen Intel CPU. Thanks!

The problem is that your CPU -  intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU     E7300  @ 2.66GHz   2.66GHz - does not meet the requirements of the SDK (iCore 2nd generation or later).

Hello,

Is there an offline-installer URL for R8?

Thank you!

Martin

May the source be with you.

Thank you, David. I appreciate it.

Hi, we used the R7 with our code (no need for the creative camera), it seems that R8 is available only if you own a camera? The link required a serial number (which we don't have).

http://registrationcenter-download.intel.com/akdlm/irc_nas/3993/intel_pc...

Is there an alternate download path? do you still enable downloading R7?

Can anyone please upload the Intel PCSDK R8 release and provide the link? Intel has permanently removed the link and provided the link for RealSense instead, but I urgently need the R8 release for some reasons. Any help please?

Hello,

I would like to ask , if someone has the offline installation of PC SDK R8?

Thanks in advance.

I have the Intel Xeon CPU W3550. The SDK installed ok, and the color stream works, but the  depth stream doesnt. Is my CPU not supported?

No, you need find Intel 2nd, 3rd and 4th gen CPU to use PerC SDK 2013.
