Multi processor compilation broken? ( Intel® C++ Compiler XE 13.1.0 ( Update 2013.2.149 ) )

Hi there, after installing the latest Update to the Intel C++ Compiler ( 2013.2.149 ), it seems like the option /MP ( Multi processor compilation ) has no effect anymore, e.g. the compilation is done one source file after the other. On our project this slows done compilation considerably. Can somebody confirm this? I am using Window 7 x64 Ultimate and have Visual Studio 2010 and 2012 with all latest updates installed. Its not difference if I use VS 2010 or VS 2012. Once I switch to the Microsoft Compiler, /MP seems to work just fine.

Hi

I just verified /MP option behavior with VS2010 IDE and Intel C++ Compiler 13.0 Update 1. I perfectly understand that the build log doesn't explicitly mention about the parallel build objects being created, but if you open the Task Manager on your system and build the application, you can see multiple instances of mcpcom.exe in your Task Manager (each representing one instance of parallel build). If you turn off /MP option, then you will see only one instance of mcpcom.exe

Thanks and Regards

I was explicitly talking about the Update 2 of the Intel C++ Compiler. This new version shows this behaviour. If I enable /MP and look at the task manager, I only see one mcpcom.exe process!

With Update 1, /MP works just fine.

I have now contacted the premier support, and they were able to reproduce the problem.

Ohh yes. I misunderstood the version number from your comment. Glad that you are already being helped by someone at Intel on this. Thanks for bringing up this issue to our notice.

I am experiencing the same problem. This is really annoying. When can we expect another update?

Hi VooDooMan,

                            I have reproduced and escalated this to our development team and would get back to you with an update soon.
