During Intel® DCM installation, I enabled TLS settings, and after installation, I cannot open the Console UI, what is the reason?
To enable TLS settings, please make sure you have set the correct TLS configuration, and saved the configuration using the right format as TLS requested. Then, you need to open the Console UI with the URL by using different port: https://localhost:8643/DcmConsole, where D, C capitalized
I have installed Intel® DCM package successfully in Linux operating system, but when I try to open the Intel® DCM Console UI locally with the URL: http://localhost:8688/DcmConsole , it always fails.
For this issue, please make sure the following steps are configured as follows:
- The firewall has been turned off, or Intel® DCM has been added into firewall permission list
- The SELinux has been disabled, or Intel® DCM has been added into SELinux permission list
- There is no proxy configuration in Firefox browser
- The computer name has been bundled with localhost in hosts config file
- If the computer name is localhost, please make sure there is no other computer in the network named as the same name: localhost
When I install Intel® DCM on operating system Cent 5.5 x64 Edition, during installation, there is an error reported: error while loading shared libraries: libxml2.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. And the installation failed.
Officially Intel® DCM does not support installation on this operating system. As to the issue itself, the reason for this is that Cent operating system has no lib file: libxml2.so.2, which is one of Intel® DCM dependencies, we suggest installing this file first, then install Intel® DCM
I have installed Intel® DCM package successfully in Windows operating system, but when I try to open the Intel® DCM Console UI locally with the URL: http://localhost:8688/DcmConsole, it always fails.
For this case, please make sure that the windows firewall has been turned off or Intel® DCM has been added into firewall permission list, then, restart the DCM console server
How to open Intel® DCM Console UI remotely?
By default, Intel® DCM uses computer name to make the identification in network, you need make sure the DNS is running in network, then, open DCM console remotely by input URL http://dcm_server_name:8688/DcmConsole. If there is no DNS in network, to open Intel® DCM Console UI remotely, we can use the DCM server IP address as the URL: http://DCMserverIPAddress:8688/DcmConsole, before opening the URL, we need to change the settings.xml file, which is located in the Intel® DCM installation folder, for example:
- C:\Program Files\Intel\DataCenterManager\external\apache-tomcat\webapps\DataCenterManager\Settings.xml
- Alternatively for Linux operating system, /opt/Intel/DataCenterManager/external/apache-tomcat/webapps/DataCenterManager/Settings.xml).
In this file, we change the computer name to the relevant IP address, there are 4 places which need to be changed in this file, after modifying this file and saving the changes, restart the DCM services, and then we can visit DCM Console remotely by inputting the URL above.
I have changed the computer name after I installed Intel® DCM successfully, then, I cannot open the Console UI even if I restart the DCM services.
This is because once DCM installed, the computer name will be filled in one DCM database config file, once the computer name changed, the config file will mismatch with the new computer name, the steps to solve this case:
- Change the computer name to the original one
- Uninstall Intel® DCM package
- Change the computer name to the new one
- Reinstall Intel® DCM
When I add a managed server to DCM hierarchy, an error pops up: "Managed server Discovery End With Error: Managed server is not reachable", what is the reason?
This error is mainly caused by an IPMI session which is not set up. Please make sure the BMC IP address is correct and can be reached by DCM server through network, meanwhile, make sure the managed server BMC has been enabled for LAN access
When I add managed server to DCM hierarchy, an error pops up: managed server Discovery End With Error: "Response failed with error code: (17) No Cipher Suite match with proposed security algorithms", what is the reason?
This error is mainly because the server BMC LAN channels cipher suite privilege setting which does not comply with DCM requirement as follows. DCM requests that one of the first four BMC LAN channel cipher suites: cipher suite 0-3 must have ADMIN privilege; customer can use IPMItool to change the BMC LAN channel cipher suite privilege settings, then, try to add to DCM again
When I add managed server to DCM hierarchy, an error pops up: Managed server Discovery End With Error: "Response failed with error code: (13) Unauthorized name", what is the reason?
This error is mainly because customer has input a non-existent BMC user, or the BMC user input is not enabled, please use IPMItool to check the BMC user information, and enable the correct user for DCM, then try to add to DCM again
When I add managed server to DCM hierarchy, an error pops up: Managed server Discovery End With Error: "Response failed with error: User-Password authentication check failed (RAKP 2 check) (17)", what is the reason?
This error is mainly because the authentication check cannot be passed. Customer may have input the wrong password, if customer has forgotten the password, please use IPMItool to reset the password, then, try to add in DCM again
When I add managed server to DCM hierarchy, an error pops up: Managed server Discovery End With Error: "Response failed with error: Set session privilege level to level (4) failed: (0x81) Requested level exceeds Channel or User Privilege Limit", what is the reason?
This error is mainly because the BMC user customer input has not ADMIN privilege, DCM request the BMC username used for communication has ADMIN privilege, please use IPMItool to check the BMC user information, and change the relevant user to ADMIN privilege level, then try to add in DCM again
When I add a server managed server in DCM hierarchy, I think I have right configed the managed server BMC, including cipher-suite, user privilege, password setting, but I still cannot add this managed server to DCM, how about the other possible reasons?
There are some possible reasons for this case:
- Be sure you have chosen the right protocal when adding the managed server
- If you choose the IPMI protocol, be sure the BMC IP address can be reached by IPMI
I have added the server node into Intel® DCM hierarchy successfully, but I cannot get the power readings for a long time, what is the reason?
The possible reasons for this case are:
- Make sure you have waited 3-6 minutes after resuming the power monitoring.
- Make sure the server node BMC is online and can be reached through Intel® DCM server.
In my Intel® DCM Console event, there is always one event message: "Failed to subscribe predefined event ..." What does this mean?
This means that the Intel® DCM predefined event cannot be subscribed on the target managed server; the pre-defined events will not pop up when they are trigged. This is mainly because there are no available BMC SEL selectors for Intel® DCM to subscribe the pre-defined events. To solve this, please make sure there are free SEL selectors in the managed server BMC, or you uncheck the pre-defined events in the event setting page
