Can not load symbols for Windows driver

Hello,

I have storage (WDF) filter driver for which I want to do performance analysis using VTune.

I have provided the right path for .pdb file (symbol file).

I'm running IOs through IO-meter as it has to go through our windows filter driver.

Though it collects the sampling data, I do not see any of our driver's symbols at all? I have tried both Windows 2008 and Windows 2012.

What am I missing?  Please help.

Thanks,

Cannot start Amplifier

Hi,

I installed vtune_amplifier_xe_2013 on a 32-bit Ubuntu 12.04. But everytime I run it like this

/opt/intel/vtune_amplifier_xe_2013/bin32/amplxe-cl,   or

/opt/intel/vtune_amplifier_xe_2013/bin32/amplxe-gui

it will give me some error, like this

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error'

  what():  locale::facet::_S_create_c_locale name not valid

I googled a little, but cannot find any solutions.

Multithreading on multicore, profiling with VTune

Hi guys,

I am trying to run 8 different threads on 8 different cores. So my CPU time is greater than my elapsed time. One of the threads is taking a very long time when compared to the other 7. These 7 threads are taking up almost the same time with a very minute difference. I have attached a screenshot of this. Can someone please tell me why this one particular thread is taking this extra time?

Thanks!

amplxe-cl inclusive and exclusive HW event data

Dear Vtune experts,

In the vtune GUI documentation, I found that Top-Down Tree window displays inclusive and exclusive performance data from the perspective of the function call stacks during execution. I would like to obtain the inclusive and exclusive HW event data via command line. Currently, I use the following command and it generates report on exclusive data but I want to generate inclusive data on the HW counters.

Floating License with USE_SERVER doesn't work since VTuneAmplifierXE 2013update14

Hello,

we have a remote floating license that we access with the 2 lines above:

   SERVER machine ANY 27000

   USE_SERVER

It works fine with VTune Amplifier XE 2013 update13.

But, from VTune Amplifier XE 2013 update14 to VTune Amplifier XE 2013 update16, we can't use the same syntax.

It said: "no valid license can be found" when using with the syntax USE_SERVER.

With "export INTEL_LMD_DEBUG=1", it says: "Error: A license for PerfAnl is not available (-5,412)"

Linux ssh session: Cannot find product on the target.

Hi @all,

I have Amplifier XE 2013 installed at Ubuntu and on a remote host the CLI package. After I have set up the target and try to create a new analysis, I get the error: "Cannot find product on the target."
I guess something is wrong with the installation at the remote machine (Sandy Bridge). At another remote machine (Ivy Bridge) all works smoothly. What do I need to check to ensure a correct installation?

Thanks in advance
Olaf

Explain the parameters L2 Request Instruction Fetch

Hello,

Can you please explain the parameters L2_RQSTS.IFETCH_MISS and L2_RQSTS.IFETCH_HIT?
I am using Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2420 0 @ 1.90GHz. This system does not have L2_RQSTS.IFETCH_MISS and L2_RQSTS.IFETCH_HIT parameters.

Are these paramters equal to
L2_RQSTS.IFETCH_MISS    =  L2_RQSTS.PF_MISS
L2_RQSTS.IFETCH_HIT       =  L2_RQSTS.PT_HIT

L2_RQSTS.PF_MISS+L2_RQSTS.PT_HIT = L2_RQSTS.ALL_PF
