The OpenCL™ Drivers and Runtimes for Intel® Architecture provide OpenCL support for:

  • Intel® Atom™, Intel® Core™, Intel® Pentium®, Intel® Celeron®, and Xeon® processors
  • Intel® Iris™ Graphics and Intel® HD Graphics family
  • Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors

Installation of a relevant runtime or driver enables OpenCL applications to run on a target hardware set.


OpenCL™ 1.2 Driver for Intel® HD, Iris™, and Iris™ Pro Graphics for Linux (64-bit)

The intel-opencl-1.2-1.0 driver for Linux exposes the general-purpose, parallel compute capabilities of Intel® graphics for OpenCL applications. Versions of this driver have previously been included as part of the Intel® Media Server Studio (MSS). In this release, we have provided the driver as a separate component for those customers who do not need a pre-integrated and pre-validation solution with the Intel® Media Server Studio (MSS). The intel-opencl-1.2-1.0 driver has a unique versioning scheme and its potential compatibility with Intel® Media Server Studio (MSS) is described in further detail in the release notes.

Intel has validated the intel-opencl-1.2-1.0 driver on CentOS 7.1 for the following 64-bit kernels.

  • CentOS 7.1 Linux 3.10.0-229 kernel patched for Intel® OpenCL 1.2

  • CentOS 7.1 with generic Linux 4.1 kernel patched for Intel® OpenCL 1.2

Supported OpenCL devices:

  • 4th or 5th generation Intel® Core™, Intel® Xeon® v3, or Intel® Xeon® v4 processor.

OpenCL™ Driver for Intel® Iris™ and Intel® HD Graphics for Windows* OS (64-bit and 32-bit)

This software driver package installs the Intel® Graphics driver with support for OpenCL on Intel® Architecture processors with Intel® Iris™ Graphics or Intel® HD Graphics on Windows* OS.
You can also use the Intel Driver Update Utility to automatically detect and update your drivers and software.

OpenCL™ Driver for Intel® HD Graphics for Linux* (64-bit) as part of Intel® Media Server Studio

Installation of the Intel® Media Server Studio for Linux* also provides the Intel® Graphics driver with support for OpenCL on Intel® Architecture processors with Intel® HD Graphics.
Acquire the Intel Graphics driver for Linux* with the Intel® Media Server Studio installation.

  • Intel Graphics (GPU) on Linux*

This runtime software package adds OpenCL support to Intel Core and Xeon processors and Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors for Red Hat Enterprise Linux* OS 6.0 or higher and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server* 11.1 or higher (64-bit version).

Supported OpenCL devices:

  • Intel Xeon Phi Coprocessor
  • CPU

Intel OpenCL™ Code Builder for Ubuntu

For OpenCL support on CPU device under Ubuntu*, install the Intel® Code Builder for OpenCL™ API for Ubuntu*. This software package adds OpenCL CPU device support on systems with Intel Core and Intel Xeon processors under Ubuntu* (64-bit version). OpenCL Runtime for CPU device under Ubuntu is available only with the Code Builder installation.
