How to use the Intel® Cluster Checker v3 SDK with gcc5

When compiling connector extensions in the Intel® Cluster Checker v3 SDK it is recommended to use an Intel compiler version 15.0 or newer and a gcc/g++ compiler version 4.9.0 or newer, as described in the Intel® Cluster Checker developer's Guide. This explicitly includes gcc version 5.1.0 and newer as well.

  • How to use the Intel® Cluster Checker v3 SDK on a cluster using multiple Linux Distributions

    Linux based HPC clusters can use different Linux distributions or different versions of a given Linux distribution for different types of nodes in the HPC cluster.

    When the Linux distribution on which the connector extension has been built uses a glibc version 2.14 or newer and the Linux distribution where the connector extension is used, i.e. where clck-analyze is executed, uses a glibc version lower than 2.14, clck-analyze is not able to execute the shared library of the connector extension due to a missing symbol.

    clck-analyze will show a message like this:

    running mpi program in mic

    Hi

           I have compile OpenFOAM for mic architecture. I am able to run the program without any trouble. But I am having trouble with running openfoam in parallel. The way OpenFOAM works in parallel is you decompose the mesh in to sub domains and put the folders in to processor 1 2 etc folders 

    But when I issue the command to run the program in parallel, it is creating two seperate instances of the same program.

    export I_MPI_MIC=1

    mpiexec.hydra -np 2 ./pisoFoam

    What is syntax for broadcast decorator?

    The ISE doc only describes the decorator syntax with the single example {1to16} (document 319433-022 page 7).

    I would assume that generally you write {1ton} where n = the full vector size / the single element size.  But it would be nice to specify this exactly.

    However, GNU `as` will not accept {1to4] or smaller.  Furthermore, it does not accept a broadcast decorator with a 128- or 256-bit vector size.  If I use .byte to assemble 128- and 256-bit instructions, the disassembler shows the {1to8} or {1to16} decorator regardless of VL.  Example:

    I had compiled NAMD 2.10 using intel 2015 compiler suite. I saw the benchmark for intel MIC card , so i am trying to benchmark NAMD with host processor only configuration. Though the following seems to me application related issue , but as i have used intel compilers  , so i have posted this issue here.
    Presently i am benchmarking the application on my system (CentOS 6.5 ,Xeon 2670 v3), though i will incrementally add optimization flags as per my architecture.

    Dramatic Performance Increase - Intel Hyperthreading

    Hi,

    In Task Manager I was able to see in the lower left corner HT stepping:1->2->3 (these numbers were changing in real time while application was executing) This was right next to CPU usage:%, passed time : nn, Physical memory. Application was really aware of Hyperhreading and was utilizing it. After reformat I cannot restore this magic performance boost. 

    System:

    Intel processor (i3 3220)

    Windows 8 Single Language.

     

    Xeon Phi 5110P on Dell Precision T3600 Workstation installation

    Hi,

    has anybody successfully installed a Xeon Phi 5110P on a Dell Precision T3600 Workstation?

    My card is in a PCIe v3 x16 slot but it doesn’t show up in BIOS or “lspci”. Blue LEDs on the card are blinking irregularly, 6pin and 8pin PCIe power connectors are plugged in (my first error ;-). I flashed the BIOS to revision A14, so that I was able to set the “PCI MMIO Space Size” BIOS Parameter to "Large". I also removed my Nvidia Tesla C2075 from the board, because together they took more power than the system can provide (my second error ;-)
