Our application exhibits the rich contents of an encyclopedia, by means of the technology of augmented reality and Intel PerC SDK. 3D models and animations are mixed together with video from real world, which provides the users a brand new way of interaction with virtual world. Users can interact with virtual objects by body movements, hand gestures, voice and touch. This great experience of digital exploration through an encyclopedia takes the children to the appealing unknown world.

Uso degli strumenti/SDK Intel: 

The app uses the augmented reality to show how a dinosaur grows and lives on a common table, and leverage Intel PerC SDK functions to allow the user to interact with the 3D objects in more nature methods, e.g. touch the dinosaur with a finger, hold it on the hand, create a scene with different hand gestures, make dinosaur look at the user using face recognition, and even speak to the dinosaur using voice recognition.

Funzioni peculiari: 

Augmented Reality is used to support the effect of 3D virtual objects overlaid on the table surface. Unity3D is used to render the 3D scene and develop the app logic; 3DMax is used to create the 3D models used in the application.

    Space Between is a 2D puzzle game based on voice commands and gesture sets found within Intel's Perceptual Computing SDK in which a player communicates with, guides, and teaches a creature in an abstract virtual world. The goal of the game is to progress and survive in the world as long as possible by showing the creature how and when to perform certain actions as well as watching and listening for cues the creature gives the player. The creature will learn to associate gestures and voice commands with game actions and will perform them on its own unless otherwise dictated by the player. In addition, the player will be able to perform actions within the environment using traditional input devices such as a mouse and keyboard. Using musical tones and sounds, the creature can communicate with the player. The player must learn to respond to these communications as they will be vital clues to solving puzzles within the world. The hybrid of voice, gesture, and traditional input modalities as well as the unique mechanic of two way communication between the player and creature creates a unique experience that both highlights the functionality of Intel's Perceptual Computing SDK and gives players an experience not currently found in games today.

    • SFX created using various sample libraries.

    Uso degli strumenti/SDK Intel: 

    Our application is being developed entirely around the Intel SDK and camera and so requires no external libraries or middleware outside of the application itself in order to run. Additionally, it has been designed in a way to allow for very low system requirements for running as a result of the use of simple art in the game. On completion, the application should require ~50 - 100 MB of storage and processing capable of running the camera in order to function.

    Funzioni peculiari: 

    Development will utilize the SDK framework created for Unity3D and will be coded in C#. Specific functionality used from the SDK includes voice and gesture methods within the PXCUPipeline class. The game will be developed over a seven week period by two experienced Unity3D developers and will leverage simple, abstract graphics and audio in order emphasize focus on SDK use and gameplay development.

    Software developers by the thousands visited the Intel Software booth at the sold-out Microsoft Build conference April 2 – 4 in San Francisco’s Moscone Center.     For those that program (or are learning to program), the convention is that one's first program is called "Hello World," where, as the name implies, the quest is to get the display (whatever it may be) to show "Hello World." In this case, this is my first blog as the Community Manager for Intel® RealSense technology. I step into this role, taking over for the wonderful Bob Duffy, who is moving on to the roll of being the manager of community managers.
