1. Download and install the FTDI drivers (http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm) for use on the host computer.
  2. Plug the Micro USB cable (Type B) into a regular Type A USB port on your host computer.


  3. Plug the other end of the cable in to the Micro USB Type B port on the development platform.

 



  1. Launch the Terminal application on your host computer.

    Launch Terminal from Applications > Utilities

Quick launch tip: Launch Spotlight (Cmd + Space), and then type terminal.

  1. In the Terminal window, use the ls command to list any connected usbserial devices. Type:

ls /dev/cu.usbserial-*

In Terminal, type: ls /dev/cu.usbserial-*

  1. Connected USB devices will be displayed to the screen. Confirm that a device with a name starting with /dev/cu.usbserial is displayed. This should be your development platform.

    Connected USB serial devices will be output to the Terminal screen
    In this example, the development platform's device name is /dev/cu.usbserial-A402EXOG.
  2. Use the screen utility in Terminal to connect to the development platform using your development platform's unique device name and the baud-rate 115200. For example:

screen /dev/xx.usbserial-XXXXXXXX 115200

  1. If prompted, enter your computer user password to continue.

 

Using screen in Terminal

  1. In this example, the command would be:

screen /dev/cu.usbserial-A402EXOG 115200

Warning:

Failing to close the Screen connection fully may stop you from being able to log in next time without rebooting the development platform. Close Screen sessions every time you are done with your serial connection.

To end a Screen session, type Ctrl + A, then Ctrl + K. At the prompt, enter y.
