  • How to run Yocto Linux OS in a virtual machine

    Sometime we need a complete development environment to compile, deploy and test our solutions, and sometimes we can't play directly on the hardware, or, simply, the provided SDK is not enough for our development plans. This could be, for example, the case of Intel Edison or Galileo: how can I compile entire frameworks, runtimes and their dependencies on Yocto Linux OS?

    In this article I'll show how to create a runnable image of Yocto and how to test it inside QEMU, a basic software emulator; and following how to run it inside an Hypervisor, like Microsoft Hyper-V on Windows.

  • Modbus on Intel(R) Edison

    Modbus is a well known protocol used for instance fo industrial, or home automation tasks. It may run on physical layers such as serial (RS232, or RS485) or ethernet (TCP, or UDP).

     

    For modbus on Intel(R) Edison you can easily use WiFi, or serial (RS232) as they are directly available on the platform.

  • Reducing the runtime of mpitune

    The Intel® MPI Library includes a tool - mpitune - that can help to optimize the execution parameters of the Intel MPI Library itself. While the mpitune utility provides great help for the user in finding good parameters, it may also take a long time to execute since it is looking into a very wide search space.

    Therefore, limiting the mpitune search space to a reasonable size and only involving parameters that are necessary from the user perspective, is a key for a successful usage of the tool. This is important, especially for the application specific mode of mpitune.

    基于Edison的微信硬件平台

    该方案的初衷是只用微信来控制物联网,免去开发其他的控制端应用。

    此次更改主要加上了Edison,并不是简单地让微信来控制Edison,这太简单了.......
    稍微加点难度,想到了在保证控制的及时情况下,减小服务器端的资源消耗。
    简单地讲,就是每个Arduino或其他物联网节点,通过Edison这个相当于路由器来发送传感器数据和获取控制命令。

    控制Arduino
    首先服务器上有一个数据库,数据库里面有几个记录,每个开关都有一个对应的值。
    在微信中,我们对一个公众平台发送类似于“开灯”,“打开热水器”之类的命令,以“开灯”为例公众平台的后台服务器会对这个命令进行判断,如果符合预设的命令,就会进入数据库,找到这个LED对应的记录,把这个记录对应的值改为“1”(值其实是随意的)。
    这里的命令发送方式包括文字消息,语音消息。

          相信看电影的你会有这样的经历,由于某种原因晚到了电影院,而此时电影已经开始了
          等你急吼吼的检完票进到对应的影厅的时候,面对的是黑乎乎的环境,这个情况下找自己的位置很是抓狂
          有些朋友会打开手机照明来找位置,折腾一番,还不免找错,亮亮的灯光还会打扰到其他的观影者

          所以我就想利用edison开发一套小装置,在不改变影院大硬件环境的基础上,为影厅增加一个实用的辅助提醒找位功能,有点大材小用,但是希望能在开发过程中更好的了解edison的性能。

    With the Intel® RealSense™ 3D Cameras and SDK, we can create applications that can perform gesture detection, facial analysis, background segmentation, voice recognition, voice synthesis, and more. With the Intel® Edison platform IoT developer can build prototypes that gather sensor information or send control to other devices and create innovative products. In this article we will be using Intel® RealSense™ technology JavaScript Framework to send hand gesture data to server and server will send those data to trigger buzzer and led connected by Intel® Edison.

    宠物感应拍照机

    项目主要目的是为了能够随时随地和家人朋友分享家中爱宠的照片信息,由于工作繁忙,没有太多时间去关照家里的宠物,更别说拍照片了,所以萌发了想给家中的狗狗拍照片的想法。
    之前想过用山狗和树莓派来搭建,但是都没有去做,因为两个问题,第一个如果用树莓派的官方摄像头,不太好集成到我的程序里面,只能通过shell脚本来实现,不够高端大气上档次。。。如果用arduino有觉得摄像头不好控制。。。。后来参加blueeye做无人船的时候,大熊借给我一块Edison,所以决定用edison去实现拍照的功能,是不是有作死的感觉,通过查阅资料,看到edison的运算性能非常不错,又非常的低功耗,也有大神已经实现了在edison上跑opencv的实践。
