VTune Amplifier 2018 Beta Update

  • New GPU In-kernel Profiling (Preview) that helps analyze GPU kernel execution per code line and identify performance issues caused by memory latency or inefficient kernel algorithms.

  • Support for Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessor targets codenamed Knights Landing from Windows* host

  • Improved insight into parallelism inefficiencies for applications using Intel Threading Building Blocks (Intel TBB) with extended classification of high Overhead and Spin time.

  • Application Performance Snapshot: Top 5 MPI functions by average consumed time added to command line and html reports

  • Usability improvements with a new UI design for the Timeline pane

    Note

    Beta implementation of the Timeline pane does not support the Super Tiny display mode for the band height.

VTune Amplifier 2018 Beta

New VTune Amplifier 2018 product combines features originally provided by the Intel VTune Amplifier XE and Intel VTune Amplifier for Systems and also introduces the following new options targeted for both host-based and embedded remote target analysis:

  • Application Performance Snapshot providing a quick look at your application performance and helping you understand where your application will benefit from tuning. The Snapshot shows metrics on MPI and OpenMP* parallelism, memory access, FPU utilization, and I/O efficiency with recommendations on further in-depth analysis.

  • Enhanced MPI metrics for HPC Performance Characterization analysis to expose scalability bottlenecks for hybrid applications

  • Profiling Guided Optimization report (PREVIEW) generated with the amplxe-pgo-report.sh utility for the Intel® C++ compiler (Linux* only), GCC* and Clang* compiler to improve code optimization

  • Advanced Hotspots analysis extended to support the Attach profiling mode for native and Java* services and daemons continuously running in Docker*containers

  • Memory Consumption analysis for native and Python* Linux targets that monitors RAM consumption over time and helps identify memory objects allocated and released within the analysis run

  • Automated installation of the VTune Amplifier collectors on a remote Linux target system. This feature is helpful if you profile a target on a shared resource without VTune Amplifier installed or on an embedded platform where targets may be reset frequently.

  • Usability improvements with a new UI design for the target and analysis configuration windows

    Note

    Beta implementation of the Target and Analysis configuration windows does not support the custom analysis and some other specific features yet. You can switch back to the old user interface by clicking the Switch UI button at the bottom of the configuration pane.
