Building VASP* with Intel® MKL , Intel® Compilers and Intel® MPI
Step 1 – Overview
Why it is needed?
Demonstrate the steps involved in setting up the smallest Windows* cluster with Intel® MPI Library to users experimenting in their labs. We have seen some of our customers involved in such activity.
Intel® Parallel Studio XE is a very popular product from Intel that includes the Intel® Compilers, Intel® Performance Libraries, tools for analysis, debugging and tuning, tools for MPI and the Intel® MPI Library. Did you know that some of these are available for free? Here is a guide to “what is available free” from the Intel Parallel Studio XE suites.
This document is designed to help users get started writing code and running MPI applications using the Intel® MPI Library on a development platform that includes the Intel® Xeon Phi™ processor.
The Intel® MPI Library and OpenMP* runtime libraries can create affinities between processes or threads, and hardware resources. This affinity keeps an MPI process or OpenMP thread from migrating to a different hardware resource, which can have a dramatic effect on the execution speed of a program.
Code Sample included: Learn how to use MPI-3 shared memory feature using the corresponding APIs on the Intel® Xeon Phi™ processor.
Learn how to write an MPI program in Python*, and take advantage of Intel® multicore architectures using OpenMP threads and Intel® AVX512 instructions.
