Intel® VTune™ Amplifier XE

no call stack information #2

I am running i7 Haswell architecture and I don't see "call stack information" in analysis as I had for Core2 in VTune.

Am I doing something wrong, or this architecture simply doesn't support this in hardware counters?

My config: Win 8.1 x64, project c++0x x64, ICC 14 SP1 update 2, VTune the latest to date.

no call stack information

Hello I  am running a MPI application which is a hybrid i.e having 2 ranks on mic0 and mic1 each and 3 ranks on xeon

I am trying to run vtune analyzes  for the ranks on mic. I do this by using VTUNE GUI from the host and select launch application and run a script which has a mpirun for all the 5 ransks in it

I am facing some problems:-

In the type of analysis i go in Knights Corner Platform and ..

Intel Vtune is not loading data

I am running an application on Intel Vtune (vtune_amplifier_xe_2013) on the linux system (ubuntu).

using command-lin: /opt/intel/vtune_amplifier_xe_2013/bin64/amplxe-cl -collect snb-bandwidth -app-working-dir /usr/local/hadoop -- /usr/local/hadoop/projwc

However, intel vtune is not loading data into the target file.

Resolving Symbols for Intel® Manycore Platform System Stack (Intel® MPSS) in Intel® VTune™ Amplifier XE Analysis

Whenever Intel VTune Amplifier XE is unable to resolve symbols for libraries or the operating system, it lumps all the counts for that module together. Often, these lumped counts end up at the top of the hotspot list, skewing the analysis. By setting the correct search library path in an analysis, you can help Intel VTune Amplifier XE further resolve the counts into its constituent functions and thus rank them appropriately.

    Hi all,

I'm trying to install Vtune Amplifier XE 2013 Update 16 on Windows 7 Enterprise x64 and running into an error.

    ICACHE.MISSES Parameter on Xeon-E5

I am using intel xeon E5-24xx machine. When I try to read the parameter ICACHE.MISSES, most of the applications are reporting its values as 0. If I am not mistaken it is the Instruction cache misses of L1.

Please give me any idea how to check why this parameter is giving 0 value.

    vtune on a virtual machine

I am running a virtual machine, the guset and host OS are ubuntu 12.04, 3.11.0-17-generic. I am running vtune within a VM, I was able to

run the basic hotspots test. But when I tried core2-memory-access, I get the following error:

amplxe: Error: PMU resources are not available. Hardware Event-based Sampling is not supported on this operating system. PMU resources may be made unavailable either by the BIOS or Hypervisor.

How do I get past this?

    Cannot capture Linux Kernel data

I ran a vtune "Basic Hotspots Analysis" on an app to test the Linux Device Driver. I have

        rpm -ivh kernel-debuginfo-common-*.rpm

rpm -ivh kernel-debug-debuginfo-*.rpm installed. But still Vtune didn't capture the kernel profile data. Let me know if i am missing any thing.
