Troubleshooting HOWTO: Bad hardware? MPSS? Configuration?

Are you having problems with your hardware (Cannot see your Intel(R) Xeon Phi(tm) coprocessor?  Sporadic accessibility?) or with the Intel(R) Manycore Platform Software Stack (Intel(R) MPSS) running reliably?

Attached to this post are PDF "flowcharts" that explain how you can troubleshoot the problem (note:  Both Linux and Windows flowcharts are available), and shows what information you will want to collect if you need to escalate your issue to your OEM provider or Intel.

What collateral/documentation do you want to see?

Do you have questions that you are not finding the answers for in our documentation?  Need more training, source code examples, on what specifically?   Help us understand what's missing so that we can make sure we develop documentation you care about (what is important, and what is nice to have)!   Thank you

In the period prior to the launch of Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessor, Intel collected questions from developers who had been involved in pilot testing. This document contains some of the most common questions asked. Additional information and Best-Known-Methods for the Intel Xeon Phi coprocessor can be found here.

Slides from May 4th Webinar on Cilk

Hi all,

We did a webinar this morning at 8am Pacific time on changes and new updates in Cilk in the Intel Parallel Composer beta. I am posting the slides here. Let me know if there's any interest to do another webinar on this around 5pm or so Pacific time - I want to see if there's anyone that couldn't attend due to the time that would have liked to attend. Thanks everyone, and I really enjoyed the questions in today's session.

TBB licensing

I'm having some issues regarding TBB licensing. Before pointing out that this is a technical forum, which I realize and respect,  please note that Intel support sent me here, like in this situation or this other.

The company I work for has a commercial application and we want to use Intel TBB. I will try to outline the platforms I need to support and what license options I've found so far:

amplxe: Error: [Instrumentation Engine]: failed to create the detach process (clone failed)

running command

amplxe-cl -target-process dsd -collect hotspots
amplxe: Collection started. To stop the collection, either press CTRL-C or enter from another console window: amplxe-cl -r /r000hs -command stop.

then stopped but got the following error:

^Camplxe: Error: [Instrumentation Engine]: failed to create the detach process (clone failed)
amplxe: Collection detached.
amplxe: Collection failed.
amplxe: Internal Error

Could anyone help? Thanks

CPU2006 compile issues with MSVC 2013, ICC XE 2015 rev 3, windows server 2012

ICL Version

I have compile errors with 2 cpu2006 benchmarks.

483.xalancbmk dies in execution if I compile with -O3 -ipo; it works fine with -O2

453.povray says:

file defaultrenderfrontend.cpp

error "<mathimf.h> is incompatible with system <math.h>!"

Program is faster when launched from VTune

I've noticed that if I time my program launched from the command line, it is slower than when I launch it from VTune (~25sec vs ~18sec). I've already checked that I'm running the same binary with the same options. Also, when I run it from the command line I run it 5 times consecutively.

I've noticed that, when launched from command line, the CPU stays in "slow" mode (at 1600MHz measured by CPUz), but when launched from VTune the CPU enters "turbo mode" (goes up to 2400MHz measured by CPUz).
