Intel AMT maintains timers for each registered agent. The Intel AMT device is responsible for executing any actions associated with a change of state for the agent. Intel AMT will decrement these timers only when the system is in an S0 state. During other power states or when an operating system restart is initiated, all timers are suspended. The Agent Watchdog enables you to set the following for each agent:
• StartupInterval – The maximum time allowed for the agent to start up and start sending heartbeat signals.
• TimeoutInterval – The maximum time allowed between agent heartbeat signals.
• Timeout – A universal timer that applies to all agents as part of the IPS_WatchDogAction class (see Set the Agent Watchdog Expiration Action), this indicates the amount of time between an agent’s entering the Expired state and the watchdog’s triggering an action in response.
The following table describes the actions that you can define for an agent watchdog to perform when an agent changes its state.
Action |
Description |
EventOnTransition |
Specifies whether an event should be created in the Intel AMT Event Manager when the agent’s watchdog transitions from OldState to NewState. |
ActionSd |
A System Defense action which may be applied when the agent’s watchdog transitions from OldState to NewState. This action cannot be called in Small Business Technology SKU. |
ActionEAC |
If true, the state of the associated agent will be included in a posture/statement of health message to a system controlling network resources (Cisco* NAC or Microsoft* NAP). If the specific transition occurs, Intel AMT sends an EAC alert. Note: Beginning in Intel AMT Release 9.0 NAC is no longer supported. The ActionEAC parameter is supported only by Intel AMT Release 4.0 and later. |
HeciWatchDogExpirationAction |
Indicates the action to be taken if an OS watchdog expires. Possible values are: • 0: No action • 1: System reset |
AgentPresenceWatchDogExpirationAction |
Indicates the action to be taken if an agent presence watchdog expires. Possible values are: • 0: No action • 1: System reset |
