Enable/Disable Intel AMT Network

The following steps describe how to enable or disable access to Intel AMT over a network connection. When this setting is disabled, Intel AMT can only be accessed locally.

Before AMT has been provisioned, you can use AMT Admin or OS Admin privileges to disable network access. After provisioning, only AMT Admin privileges will be sufficient.

1.  Retrieve the instance of AMT_GeneralSettings, where the InstanceID key equals “Intel(r) AMT: General Settings”.

2.  Set AMTNetworkEnabled.AMTNetworkEnabled to 0 to disable or 1 to enable.

3.  Invoke AMTNetworkEnabled.Put.

You can execute this snippet by inserting it into the execution template found here.

$generalSettingsRef =$wsmanConnectionObject.NewReference("SELECT * FROM AMT_GeneralSettings WHERE InstanceID='Intel(r) AMT: General Settings'")

$generalSettingsInstance =$generalSettingsRef.Get()

$generalSettingsInstance.SetProperty("AMTNetworkEnabled","0")#disable

$generalSettingsRef.Put($generalSettingsInstance)

4.  To check the current state whether enabled or disabled, examine the following:

Additional Information

In order to avoid the situation where the host traffic is blocked by the System Defense (SD) policy or OCHeuristics, but since there is no AMT OOB network, IT cannot access the machine, a limitation was set: when an SD policy is configured or OCHeuristics are enabled, AMT network cannot be disabled. WSMan command will return an error message AMT_STATUS_UNSUPPORTED_CONFIGURATION.
