Legacy Alarm Clock Feature (Starting in Release 5.1)

The AMT_AlarmClockService.Put method can set a date and time for the first wake–up occurrence. This will be a single occurrence unless AMTAlarmClockInterval is defined. Subsequent wake-up occurrences happen according to the value of AMTAlarmClockInterval. The wake-up mechanism performs the equivalent of a remote control power up command. This action is done entirely locally. The platform does not need to be connected to a network for the wake up action to occur.


   The default after configuration is that there is no alarm set, unless a configuration application set an alarm value.

   If the platform is not connected to power at the alarm time, or the platform is already on, the platform will try again the next time that the interval expires, if an interval was defined.

   The platform configured power package determines whether an alarm clock setting will actually cause the host to wake up. If, for example, the selected power package is “Desktop: ON in S0, S3” (Release 5.1), then the ME is on only in S0 and S3. Therefore, if the platform is in the S5 power state, the alarm clock will not wake up the host. If the platform is configured with a Wake on ME power package, for example, the “Desktop: ON in S0; ME Wake in S3-S5” power package, the alarm clock will still wake up the host after an idle timeout.

   Each time that Intel AMT performs a power on due to the alarm clock, it adds an entry to the event log. See Host Wake Up Notification Alert.

   The Alarm clock initial time setting is expressed in UTC.

   Intel AMT always expects “Z” (UTC) as the time zone and always returns a “Z”, even though Intel AMT’s internal time may be based on local time.
