Head-Coupled Perspective is a technique for rendering a scene that responds naturally and intuitively to changes in the viewer’s position relative to the display. The sample utilizes the head-tracking capability of the Intel Perceptual Computing SDK to create a novel game mechanic, where the rendered view responds to the user’s head motion. The scene is continuously re-projected to correspond to the location of the user’s face relative to the display, creating the effect of looking throughthe display frame at a scene positioned behind. As the user moves left the scene pans right, for example, providing feedback that matches the user’s intuition. The Perceptual Computing SDK requires no special hardware for face tracking; an Ultrabook’s built-in camera or a standard webcam are sufficient.
