Intel® Fortran Compiler

What should be my most recent purchase ?

I am just trying to get back into writing a Fortran application for a customer, after one year.

 

so what do I need to buy and download to do some practical work, coding a science application ?

 

I still have the older compiler, but that uses the Visual Studio 2010 shell.

I would like to get something more up to date, if possible, and skip the unnecessary stuff.

 

Any suggestions ?

building problems

I have a console app I can build in Release mode with either Multithreaded or Multithreaded DLL options for Libraries.  In Debug mode, I can build it with Multithreaded DLL, but not with Multithreaded because get over 1000 linker errors starting with the following:

open mp parallel calculations and module

I would like to collect guidance on doing parallel calculation /open mp with date from a module.

1.Within a module function/subroutine is it safe to do some parallel calculation using and updating the module variable

2. Within a module function/subroutine is it safe to do call a module function/subroutine which themselves will be updating/using the module variable

I dont know what LINUX is, first of all, I just want to get to work on this matter.

Long Execution Time

Edited subroutines and functions that ran very well in CVF to be suitable for INTEL fortran, later version of the software.  Altered lines to have ampersand, &, at the end of the current line as opposed to the start of the subsequent line.  Working with REAL 16.  Left "IF" blocks with ".LE." in lieu of "<=", for example.  Debugging is enabled.  Results of an execution yield almost the same exact result in the INTEL version as was achieved in the CVF version.  Problem is it takes an ENORMOUS amount of time to run.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

Very long computational time for Abaqus standard analysis with umat

Hi, I have written an Abaqus (standard) umat for an elastoplastic model with explicit integration and automatic error control. Results with this user material matches exactly with the results published in literature.

The issue is that it takes very long time to complete the job even with 100 elements. I have checked continuum Jacobian ​at the end of all step increments which is found to be correct and the quadratic convergence is also achieved within 3-4 iterations.

While debugging, variables of type character only show garbled text

Hello,

I just upgraded from Visual Studio 2008 and Intel Visual Fortran Compiler 11 to Visual Studio 2017 and Visual Fortran 2018. The program compiles and runs just fine, but while debugging, the content of character (string) variables is always shown as garbled text. See the screenshot for a very simple example. It seems like an encoding issue? Is there some setting that I am missing?

What does getC do that standard Fortran can't?

I am trying to read stdin in a CGI program being run by an Apache server, written in Fortran, called with POST and I have tried various forms of READ(* but cannot read even the first character.  But IFPORT function getC works a charm! So my questions:

What is it that getC does?

Can I do the same from standard Fortran, and if so, how?
